After the kitchen, the bathroom is the second most important room in the house. You spend considerable time, each day in the bathroom as a daily routine. Here you actually spend time with yourself, unwinding and cleansing. Every bathroom requires supplies and storage for clothes both fresh and soiled, towels, toiletries, lotions, and potions. The small space of a bathroom can make it challenging to organize. But there is a multitude of creative space-saving solutions available to make life easier, from cabinets and shelving to space efficient bathroom furniture. There are ways to maximize storage in the smallest of space.
Go With a Vanity: In a small bath, the temptation is to install a pedestal sink, the idea being that it is visually big. Installing a vanity under the sink with deep drawers and open shelves for towel storage saves a lot of space for daily essentials. A closed shelf with louvered shutter takes care of soiled clothes. Sliding mirrors with shelves behind it add extra storage too for little essentials or a medicine cabinet.
Above the Toilet: Narrow shelves which are not too deep are great ways to make use of the underused space above a toilet. Just leave enough space between the bottom shelf and the top of the toilet tank, so you can easily access the flush mechanism.
In the Shower: Hang your shower organizer under the shower. It will take care of the soap shampoo conditioner and other necessities for your bath routine.
Behind the Door: Hanging hook shelf behind the door will add space for towels and clothes and some organizers for undergarments, socks, etc.
Above the Door: A loft above the door frame will provide great bathroom storage for extra supplies, many of which can be camouflaged in attractive bins, baskets, and glass jars.
Less used Stuff: The first rule of organization is to get rid of stuff. Declutter!!!! Anything not used or has an expired date or not suiting you should not take space…just throw it away.
Open Shelves: When you don’t have much floor space, use your vertical space. These shelves are a great modular storage addition to a bathroom. They can be stacked on the floor, or mounted on the wall. All those bits and pieces that might get jumbled in vanity can be tucked away neatly in these. A shelf rack keeps things you use often easily accessible. Q-tips, cotton balls, and other small personal hygiene items, and leaves your countertop free of clutter.
Any storage solution that can multitask is welcome in the bathroom. The hooks at the bottom are an easy place to hang towels and robes, while the shelves above can hold extra towels, lotions, potions, and other sundries.
