Embroidery is an art, used for making a fabric beautiful with colorful designs with the help of needle and threads. It can be used to embellish any product with designs and work which can vary in size, color, and fabric. Hand embroidery is one of the oldest methods used for embroidery work. Even now this technique is used for some designs but mostly it depends upon the individual’s choice. In fact, the designs can also be customized as per the demand and requirements.
Hand embroidery is done by holding the fabric in hand with or without a circular frame, like a wooden hoop, which holds the fabric in a stretched form. Similarly, the fabric can also be placed in a horizontal frame known as ‘adda’. Some embroidery designs are stitched on the top part of the garment, while some can be stitched throughout the garment. Selection of the embroidery thread, it’s color, design placements, size and material to be used for embroidery plays an important role for getting an attractive look of the finished product. It is an art of self-expression, done with lots of patience and hard work. Hand embroidery work is also very time consuming, hence it is very expensive.
Some common hand embroidery stitches are chain stitch, buttonhole or blanket stitch, running stitch, satin stitch; stem stitch, French knot, bullion stitch, cross-stitch, etc.

Most of the hand embroidery stitches can be done by embroidery machine with more efficiency. It also helps in mass production for getting a finished quality of work, which also leads to less duration of time. Nowadays, with a little up-gradation, stitching machines are operated through computers. Through digitalization, it has become more convenient to get embroidery work or any design done, which has, in turn, opened new doors for opportunities and will bring lots of benefits for future businesses.
